17"x15" (43x38cm) Premium Frame

FSC real wood frame with double mounted 10x8 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 17x15 inches (431x381mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
This photograph, taken by an unknown photographer for the Illustrated London News Ltd in 1905, presents a lively scene of American women enjoying a charabanc ride in Madison Square Gardens, New York. The charabanc, a popular mode of transportation for pleasure trips and sightseeing tours during the early 1900s, is seen here in all its glory, with an open deck atop, allowing the passengers to fully take in the sights and sounds of the bustling city. The charabanc, which can be identified as a motorized vehicle with multiple rows of benches, is filled to capacity with women, their faces expressing excitement and joy as they hold on to each other, some laughing and others waving at the camera. The driver, dressed in a smart uniform, steers the vehicle with a confident air, seemingly relishing the energy of his passengers. The women's fashion of the era is on full display, with some wearing large hats and long, flowing skirts, while others opt for more practical attire. The background of the image shows the hustle and bustle of Madison Square Gardens, with trolley cars and other vehicles adding to the sense of movement and activity. This photograph is a testament to the spirit of leisure and tourism that was emerging in the early 1900s, as people began to explore new forms of transportation and enjoy the sights and sounds of the city in a more relaxed and enjoyable way. It is a reminder of a bygone era, when a simple charabanc ride could provide hours of entertainment and excitement.
