23"x19" (58x48cm) Premium Frame

FSC real wood frame with double mounted 16x12 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 23x19 inches (584x482mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
The Taking of Fort Louis, Guadeloupe, West Indies, 14 February 1759: A pivotal moment in the Seven Years War (1756-1763) unfolds in this evocative print, as British forces led by Major General James Grant launch a daring assault on the French-held Fort Louis in the Caribbean island of Guadeloupe. The year is 1759, and the 18th century's most significant global conflict rages on. In the foreground, British troops, their faces set with determination, advance towards the fort under a hail of French musket fire. Their rifles at the ready, they use their bayonets to shield themselves from the enemy's bullets. The British soldiers' discipline and resolve are palpable as they press forward, their flags unfurled, a symbol of their unwavering commitment to victory. In the background, the French flag flies defiantly over Fort Louis, but it is clear that the tide of the battle is turning. British cannons roar in the distance, their thunderous explosions shaking the ground and signaling the imminent fall of the fort. The smoke from the gunpowder fills the air, obscuring the battlefield and adding to the chaos and intensity of the scene. Major General James Grant, leading the charge, is depicted in the center of the print, his sword held high and his eyes fixed on the fort. His men follow closely behind him, their determination fueled by their leader's unwavering courage. The outcome of the battle is uncertain, but one thing is clear: the British forces are determined to seize Fort Louis and secure a decisive victory in the Seven Years War. This powerful image, created in the late 1700s, captures the raw emotion and intensity of a pivotal moment in military history. It stands as a testament to the bravery and determination of the soldiers who fought in this epic conflict, and serves as a reminder of the significant role that the Caribbean played in shaping the world we know today.
