23"x19" (58x48cm) Premium Frame
FSC real wood frame with double mounted 16x12 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 23x19 inches (584x482mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
This evocative image captures Marshal Michel Ney, Duke of Elchingen and Prince of the Moskova, on a white horse outside the walls of Alba de Tormes, a small Spanish town near Salamanca, on 10 November 1812. The French marshal, dressed in his full military regalia, leads a reconnaissance mission to assess the strength and positioning of Anglo-Portuguese forces stationed there. An orderly on foot follows closely behind, ensuring the Marshal's safety and readiness for battle. The year was 1812, and the Peninsular War was in full swing. The French army, under the command of Napoleon Bonaparte, had been making significant gains in the Iberian Peninsula, but the tide was beginning to turn against them. The Anglo-Portuguese forces, under the command of General Sir John Murray, were determined to hold their ground and prevent the French from advancing further. Marshal Soult's mission was crucial to the French strategy. He needed to gather intelligence on the enemy's numbers, weapons, and defenses to plan an effective attack. The success of the mission could potentially turn the tide of the war in favor of the French. The horse and its rider are the focal point of the photograph, their presence exuding confidence and determination. The horse, with its pristine white coat, appears calm and obedient, a testament to the skill and training of its rider. The orderly on foot, with his rifle at the ready, is a reminder of the ever-present danger of battle and the importance of being prepared. The photograph, taken in the 1810s, is a poignant reminder of the military tactics and strategies employed during the Peninsular War. It offers a glimpse into the past, transporting us back to a time of war, courage, and determination.
