FSC real wood frame with double mounted 16x12 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 23x19 inches (584x482mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
This evocative photograph captures a pivotal moment in the history of Lebanon and the Middle East as British army officers gather to commemorate the occupation of Beirut (now Beyrout) and Tripoli by the 21st Army Corps in 1919. The solid rock on which the tablet was fixed, bearing the new inscription, carried many ancient inscriptions, the most recent before this being one by Napoleon III in 1860. In the image, we see a group of British officers, including Major Gwatkin, Lieutenant Blunt, Brigadier-General Simpson-Baiklie, Lieutenant E.F Bulfin, and Lieutenant-General Sir E.S Bulfin, standing in front of the newly erected tablet. Their stern expressions and military attire convey a sense of determination and authority. The conquest of Beirut and Tripoli marked the end of the Ottoman rule in the region and the beginning of the French and British Mandates in Lebanon and Syria. The 21st Army Corps, which had arrived in the region in 1918, played a significant role in the occupation and the establishment of British control. The inscription on the tablet commemorates this historical event and serves as a reminder of the complex and tumultuous history of the Middle East in the early 20th century. The image provides a fascinating glimpse into the past and offers a unique perspective on the role of military forces in shaping the political landscape of the region.
