17"x15" (43x38cm) Premium Frame

FSC real wood frame with double mounted 10x8 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 17x15 inches (431x381mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
1. Title: "Smiths Trousers Are Down Again - Inspection Invited Date: A Hilarious Edwardian Misunderstanding" 2. Caption: Step back in time with this early 20th-century comic postcard, "Smiths Trousers Are Down Again - Inspection Invited Date," brought to you by the renowned British humourist, Donald McGill. This delightful piece of visual wit is a perfect example of the double entendre, a form of verbal humour that relies on multiple meanings. The scene unfolds in a quaint shop window display, where a middle-aged woman, her eyes wide with shock and disbelief, gazes at a mannequin in the window of a clothing store named "Smith's." The mannequin, dressed in trousers that appear to be in disrepair, has been labeled with a sign that reads, "Trousers Are Down Again - Inspection Invited Date." At first glance, one might assume that the trousers are in need of repair and that the shopkeeper, Mr. Smith, has invited customers for an inspection. However, upon closer examination, the humorous meaning becomes clear: the trousers are not only down, but they are also revealing more than intended, leading to a rather unexpected and amusing misunderstanding. This postcard, with its clever use of wordplay and humour, is a testament to the enduring appeal of British comedy and the power of the double entendre. It also offers a glimpse into the fashion trends and social norms of the Edwardian era, making it a fascinating and entertaining piece of historical art. So, take a moment to appreciate the simple yet effective humour of this comic postcard and let the laughter transport you back in time.
