17"x15" (43x38cm) Premium Frame

FSC real wood frame with double mounted 10x8 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 17x15 inches (431x381mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
This stunning chromolithograph depicts the exquisite Codiaeum hybrid, Le Tzar, also known as the Variegated Croton or Codiaeum variegatum. The image was meticulously drawn and chromolithographed by the renowned Belgian botanical artist Pieter de Pannemaeker, based on the original illustration by Jean Linden of the Horticole, Brussels, in 1888. The Codiaeum hybrid, Le Tzar, is a captivating tropical plant, known for its vibrant and intricately variegated foliage. Its lush, glossy leaves display a mesmerizing pattern of creamy white, green, and red hues, creating a visually striking contrast against the rich, dark soil. This beautiful plant is a hybrid of the Croton genus, which is native to tropical regions of the world, particularly Africa, Madagascar, and the Americas. The name "Croton" comes from the Greek word "kroton," meaning "junction," referring to the plant's branching structure. The Codiaeum hybrid, Le Tzar, was a popular ornamental plant during the late 19th century, and its allure continues to captivate plant enthusiasts today. Its exotic appearance and easy cultivation made it a staple in Victorian-era greenhouses and conservatories. The artistry of this chromolithograph is evident in the intricate detailing of the leaves and the delicate shading, which brings the plant to life on the page. The use of multiple colors and layers in the chromolithographic process allowed for a level of detail and depth that was unachievable with traditional methods of botanical illustration. This beautiful and intriguing plant continues to be a favorite among plant collectors and enthusiasts, and this stunning chromolithograph is a testament to its enduring allure. With its vibrant foliage and exotic origins, the Codiaeum hybrid, Le Tzar, remains a captivating and beautiful addition to any botanical collection.
