17"x15" (43x38cm) Premium Frame

FSC real wood frame with double mounted 10x8 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 17x15 inches (431x381mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
A Tight Fit: The Conservative Chancellor of the Exchequer, Stafford Northcote, Measuring a Plumper-than-Usual John Bull in this 1876 Cartoon This intriguing political cartoon, titled "A Tight Fit," was published in 1876, during the Victorian era in Britain. The image, created by an unknown artist, offers a clever analogy of the financial situation of the country under the Conservative Party's leadership, with Northcote, the Chancellor of the Exchequer, depicted as a tailor measuring a plumper-than-usual John Bull with a tape measure labeled "Budget 1876." The cartoon reflects the economic challenges faced by the country during that period. Northcote, wearing a top hat and holding a pair of scissors, looks concerned as he measures John Bull, who replies, "It has nothing to do with the size of my waist." The cartoon suggests that the country, symbolized by John Bull, was finding it difficult to make ends meet despite the Conservative Party's efforts to balance the budget. The image is a testament to the political climate of the time, with the Conservative Party trying to implement fiscal policies to address the financial challenges faced by the country. The cartoon also highlights the role of the Chancellor of the Exchequer in managing the country's finances and the public's expectations of their elected representatives. The use of humor and visual symbolism in this cartoon is a common feature of the political satire of the era. The image is a valuable historical record of the political and economic climate of the time and offers insights into the public's perception of the role of politicians and political parties in managing the country's finances.
