23"x19" (58x48cm) Premium Frame

FSC real wood frame with double mounted 16x12 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 23x19 inches (584x482mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
In this evocative photograph, the British Railways locomotive Corfe Castle chugs along the East Coast Mainline during the 1950s. The steam engine, with its distinctive curved boiler and large chimney, belches out plumes of smoke as it powers its way through the rolling hills and lush greenery of the English countryside. The locomotive's name, "Corfe Castle," is proudly displayed on the side of the engine, a nod to the historic town in Dorset from which it takes its name. The scene is one of a bygone era, as the East Coast Mainline was one of the busiest and most important railway lines in Britain during the 1950s. The line connected London with the northeastern coastal towns and cities, and the transport of goods was a significant part of its operations. In this image, we see a long train of goods trucks following closely behind the Corfe Castle, their contents hidden from view as they make their way to their destinations. Despite the industrious nature of the scene, there is a sense of romance and nostalgia that permeates the photograph. The steam engine, with its hissing and clanking sounds, was a symbol of the golden age of rail travel, an era that would soon be replaced by the sleek and modern diesel and electric trains. Today, this photograph serves as a reminder of a time when the railway was the primary mode of long-distance transport and the sound of a steam engine was a familiar and comforting sound on the horizon. The photograph is a testament to the beauty and power of the steam engine, and the role it played in shaping the transport landscape of Britain during the 1950s. It is a snapshot of history, a moment frozen in time, and a reminder of the enduring allure of the railway.
