17"x15" (43x38cm) Premium Frame

FSC real wood frame with double mounted 10x8 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 17x15 inches (431x381mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

Is it Art? What Post-Impressionism Means

EDITORS COMMENTS
- A Criticism of the Exhibition Drawing the Town to the Grafton Galleries, London, 1910 This intriguing photograph captures a glimpse of the bustling crowd gathered outside the Grafton Galleries in London during the Post-Impressionist Exhibition in 1910. The exhibition, which drew significant attention to the town, featured works by prominent Post-Impressionist artists, including Maurice Denis, Vincent Van Gogh, and Henri Matisse. In the top left corner of the image, we find three notable artworks that were exhibited during this groundbreaking event. The first painting, "St. George and the Dragon" by Maurice Denis, showcases Denis' unique approach to symbolism and his exploration of the relationship between art and spirituality. Next to it, Van Gogh's "Cornfield with Blackbirds" captures the essence of the Post-Impressionist movement with its bold brushstrokes, vibrant colors, and emotional intensity. The third artwork, "A Green-eyed Woman" by Henri Matisse, exemplifies the artist's use of color and form to convey a sensual and expressive quality. The photograph itself serves as a testament to the impact of the Post-Impressionist movement on the art world. The crowd, eager to witness these revolutionary works, reflects the growing appreciation for art that deviated from the traditional Impressionist style. The exhibition challenged the status quo and paved the way for modern art movements, forever changing the landscape of the art world. This photograph, with its rich historical context and iconic artworks, invites us to reflect on the meaning of Post-Impressionism and its enduring influence on the art world. It serves as a reminder of the power of art to provoke thought, inspire emotion, and ignite change.
