17"x15" (43x38cm) Premium Frame

FSC real wood frame with double mounted 10x8 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 17x15 inches (431x381mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
Aberdeen's Bubble: A Satirical Look into Lord Aberdeen's Coalition Government, 1853 This intriguing print, titled "Aberdeen's Bubble," offers a satirical take on the political climate during Lord Aberdeen's tenure as Prime Minister of Great Britain from 1852 to 1855. The 4th Earl of Aberdeen, George Hamilton-Gordon, led a coalition government that was marked by instability and controversy. The cartoon depicts Aberdeen, dressed in the regal attire of a prime minister, standing inside a large, fragile bubble labeled "Coalition." Surrounding the bubble are various factions, each represented by their distinct symbols and labels. The Whigs, Tories, and Peelites, all key players in the coalition, are shown jostling and attempting to poke holes in the bubble, symbolizing the constant tension and instability within the government. The caption beneath the image reads, "How long will it last?" – a question that hung heavy over Aberdeen's coalition government. The fragility of the bubble underscores the precarious nature of the political alliance and the challenges faced by Aberdeen in maintaining unity among his diverse coalition partners. This satirical cartoon, created in 1853 during the 1850s, offers a unique perspective on the political landscape of the time. It serves as a reminder of the complexities and challenges of coalition governments and the delicate balance of power in British politics. As we look back at this historical image, we can appreciate the wit and insight it provides into the political climate of the past. The satire in this print continues to resonate with us today, offering a humorous yet insightful commentary on the ever-evolving world of politics.
