17"x15" (43x38cm) Premium Frame

FSC real wood frame with double mounted 10x8 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 17x15 inches (431x381mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
This exquisite drawing depicts the Guernsey Lily, Nerine sarniensis, as illustrated by the renowned botanical artist Georg Dionysius Ehret in the 18th century. The illustration is taken from The Chelsea Gardener by Philip Miller, published in 1768. The Guernsey Lily, also known as Amaryllis sarniensis, is a bulbous perennial herb belonging to the Amaryllidaceae family, specifically the subfamily Amaryllidoideae, and the order Asparagales. It is native to the Mediterranean region and the Channel Islands. The Guernsey Lily is a monocotyledon, meaning it has only one seed leaf, and is classified as a monocot in the class Magnoliopsida, order Liliales, and family Amaryllidaceae. This elegant flowering plant is characterized by its slender, strap-shaped leaves and its vibrant, bell-shaped flowers that bloom in the late fall. The flowers are typically red or pink with white or yellow tips, and they can grow up to 30 cm in height. The Guernsey Lily was highly prized in the 18th century for its ornamental value, and it was widely cultivated in European gardens. This drawing by Ehret is a testament to the beauty and allure of this plant, which continues to captivate gardeners and botanists alike. The intricate details of the drawing show the delicate veining on the leaves and the intricate structure of the flower, highlighting the botanical precision and artistry of the time. Overall, this illustration is a valuable historical record of the Guernsey Lily and a stunning example of botanical art from the 18th century.
