17"x15" (43x38cm) Premium Frame

FSC real wood frame with double mounted 10x8 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 17x15 inches (431x381mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
This stunning image captures the exquisite beauty of the High Brown Fritillary, or Arygynnis adippe, a rare and captivating butterfly species native to Europe. With its intricately patterned wings, this High Brown Fritillary is a prime example of the natural world's intricate design. The butterfly belongs to the Lepidoptera order, which includes moths and butterflies, and is part of the larger Hexapoda class, which also includes spiders, scorpions, and other invertebrates. The High Brown Fritillary was a subject of great interest to naturalists and collectors during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. This particular specimen was likely collected during this era and expertly preserved for future generations to appreciate. The photograph was taken by Frederick William Frohawk, a renowned British natural history photographer whose work was widely published during this time. Frohawk was known for his meticulous attention to detail and his ability to capture the true essence of his subjects. The High Brown Fritillary is also known as the Four-footed Butterfly due to the four small projections on the underside of its hindwings, which resemble feet. This adaptation helps the butterfly to camouflage itself among leaves on the forest floor. The species was first described by the naturalist Johan Christian Friedrich Höhlenberg in 1861, and its name, Arygynnis adippe, is derived from the Greek words for "golden" and "butterfly," respectively. This beautiful and historic photograph is a testament to the natural world's wonders and the dedication of those who have sought to preserve and document them for future generations.
