23"x19" (58x48cm) Premium Frame

FSC real wood frame with double mounted 16x12 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 23x19 inches (584x482mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
John Butler Yeats (1839-1922), an Irish painter and the father of renowned poet W.B. Yeats, is depicted in this beautiful pencil drawing by his wife Sarah Henrietta Purser (1848-1943). Dated around 1901, the image captures John Butler Yeats in the prime of his artistic career, with a focused expression and a white shirt collar peeking out from beneath an open necked shirt. The use of pencil on white paper lends the drawing a delicate, ethereal quality, capturing the subtle textures and nuances of the subject's face and the folds of his clothing. Sarah Henrietta Purser was an accomplished artist in her own right, known for her watercolors and charcoal drawings. Her marriage to John Butler Yeats brought her into the heart of the Irish artistic community, and she went on to become a significant influence on her husband's work and the Irish art scene as a whole. The tender, intimate nature of this drawing is a testament to the deep connection between the couple, as well as Sarah's skill as an artist. John Butler Yeats was a founding member of the Dublin Painters and Sculptors Society and played a pivotal role in the Irish arts movement of the late 19th and early 20th centuries. His work was characterized by its realistic portrayal of everyday life, and he was known for his portraits, landscapes, and genre scenes. This drawing by his wife offers a rare glimpse into the personal side of this influential figure, and serves as a reminder of the important role that love and support play in the creative process.
