17"x15" (43x38cm) Premium Frame
FSC real wood frame with double mounted 10x8 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 17x15 inches (431x381mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
This exquisite miniature portrait captures the stern yet determined expression of an Officer of the Royal Scots Territorial Battalion during World War I. Dressed in his full khaki uniform, complete with brass buttons and a forage cap adorned with the Scottish thistle, the soldier exudes a sense of duty and pride. The intricate details of the painting, executed in the English School style, reveal the meticulous attention to the textures of the fabric and the subtle shading of the facial features. The Royal Scots, also known as the "Royal Regiment of Scotland," is one of the oldest and most distinguished military regiments in the British Army, with a rich history dating back to the late 17th century. During the First World War, the Territorial Battalions played a crucial role in providing reinforcements to the regular army and maintaining the morale of the home front. This miniature portrait offers a glimpse into the past, providing a tangible connection to the men and women who served in the military during wartime. The painting's historical significance is further emphasized by the fact that it depicts an Officer of the Royal Scots Territorial Battalion, a unit that played a vital role in the defense of the United Kingdom during a time of great upheaval and uncertainty. The portrait serves as a poignant reminder of the sacrifices made by the men and women of the armed forces throughout history, and the enduring legacy of the military regiments that continue to shape our collective memory.
