Awning Manchester Stockport Tram Line Tram Way Tram

23"x19" (58x48cm) Premium Frame

FSC real wood frame with double mounted 16x12 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 23x19 inches (584x482mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
Manchester-Stockport Road, Levenshulme (circa 1910s): A Glimpse into the Past This evocative photograph captures the bustling Manchester-Stockport Road in Levenshulme, a suburb of Manchester, England, during the 1910s. The scene is filled with a sense of energy and activity as people go about their daily business. At the center of the image, a Manchester Corporation tram makes its way along the tramway, its tracks visible beneath the pavement. The tram, with its distinctive red and cream livery, is a common sight on the streets of Manchester during this era. Passengers huddle inside, shielded from the elements by the tram's awning, while others wait on the pavement for their turn to board. The shops and businesses lining the road add to the vibrancy of the scene. A butcher's shop, with its red and white striped awning, displays fresh meat for sale. Across the street, a baker's shop entices passersby with the aroma of freshly baked bread. The pharmacy, with its green cross sign, offers remedies for the ailments of the day. The pavement is filled with people, some dressed in their Sunday best, while others wear more practical attire. Children play in the street, oblivious to the hustle and bustle around them. A horse-drawn cart makes its way along the road, adding to the mix of transportation options. This photograph offers a fascinating glimpse into the past, transporting us back in time to a Manchester that was once a thriving hub of activity. The tram, shops, and people in this image provide a snapshot of life during the 1910s, a time of change and progress in Manchester and beyond.
