17"x15" (43x38cm) Premium Frame

FSC real wood frame with double mounted 10x8 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 17x15 inches (431x381mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
1. Title: "An Early Depiction of a Majestic Male Mandrill: A Glimpse into the Past through an 18th Century Engraving" This print showcases an early engraving of a male Mandrill, a species of old-world monkey native to Central Africa. The artwork, believed to have been created around 1730, offers a fascinating glimpse into the natural history records of this intriguing primate. The artist, whose identity remains unknown, skillfully captured the Mandrill's distinctive features, including its elongated canines, colorful face, and robust physique. The Mandrill, known for its impressive size and striking appearance, is the largest monkey species in the world. Males can weigh up to 50 pounds and measure over 3 feet in length. This engraving, created over three centuries ago, demonstrates the artist's keen observation skills and ability to accurately depict the Mandrill's unique features. The intricate details in the engraving reveal the artist's meticulous attention to the Mandrill's textured fur, the delicate lines of its facial features, and the precise rendering of its powerful limbs. The background, while simple, effectively highlights the Mandrill's regal presence. This early engraving holds significant historical value, as it provides a window into the natural history records of the Mandrill during a time when exploration and documentation of the natural world were at their peak. It serves as a testament to the artistic skills of the past and the enduring fascination with the natural world. The Mandrill continues to captivate and inspire, and this early engraving stands as a reminder of the rich history of natural history records and the artists who dedicated themselves to documenting the wonders of the natural world.
