23"x19" (58x48cm) Premium Frame

FSC real wood frame with double mounted 16x12 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 23x19 inches (584x482mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
Lord John Russell, 1st Earl Russell (1792-1878), British Liberal statesman and politician, is depicted in this striking photograph taken in 1874. Russell, who was born into the aristocracy, rose to prominence in politics as a member of the Whig Party in the early 19th century. He served as Home Secretary, Prime Minister, and Foreign Secretary multiple times throughout his long political career. In this image, Russell is shown seated in a comfortable chair, with his hands resting in his pockets and a serious expression on his face. The setting suggests a sense of contemplation or deep thought, perhaps reflecting on the many challenges he faced during his tenure as a leading figure in British politics. Russell's political legacy is marked by his commitment to reform, particularly in the areas of education and religious freedom. He played a key role in the passage of the Reform Act of 1832, which expanded the franchise and helped to establish the modern British political system. Russell was also a vocal advocate for the abolition of slavery, and he worked tirelessly to bring about its end in the British Empire. Despite his many accomplishments, Russell's political career was not without controversy. He faced numerous challenges from both within his own party and from opposition forces, and he was known for his fiery temper and his willingness to engage in political battles. Nevertheless, he remained a respected and influential figure in British politics until his retirement from public life in 1866. This photograph of Lord John Russell, taken in 1874, offers a glimpse into the life of a complex and influential historical figure. With his hands in his pockets and a thoughtful expression on his face, Russell seems to embody the quiet determination and deep reflection that characterized his long and distinguished political career.
