17"x15" (43x38cm) Premium Frame

FSC real wood frame with double mounted 10x8 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 17x15 inches (431x381mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
In this evocative photograph from the Mary Evans Picture Library, a group of brave firefighters from the Metropolitan Fire Brigade (MFB) are seen engaged in a drill at their Southwark headquarters in the late 1890s. The firemen, dressed in their distinctive uniforms and helmets, are intently focused on their task, each one poised with a hose or other essential equipment. The setting is the yard of the Southwark Fire Station, where a sense of industry and purpose pervades the scene. The firefighters are gathered around a makeshift fire, perhaps simulating a rescue situation or testing their skills in extinguishing a blaze. The steps and railing in the background provide a clear vantage point for observing the drill, while the firemen themselves are fully immersed in the exercise. The London County Council (LCC) Fire Brigade, which would later merge with other brigades to form the London Fire Brigade, was a vital part of the city's infrastructure during the Victorian era. Fire drills were an essential component of firefighting training, ensuring that firefighters were prepared to respond effectively to emergencies. This photograph offers a fascinating glimpse into the past, providing a window into the daily life and work of these dedicated firefighters. The photograph's composition and lighting also contribute to its appeal, with the firemen arranged in a visually pleasing manner and the fire casting an orange glow over the scene. Overall, this image is a testament to the courage, discipline, and teamwork of the London Fire Brigade's early firefighters, making it an invaluable historical record.
