23"x19" (58x48cm) Premium Frame
FSC real wood frame with double mounted 16x12 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 23x19 inches (584x482mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
This evocative photograph captures the bustling scene at the landing stage of Ashar Creek in Basra, Iraq, circa 1918. The creek, a major waterway in the city, served as a vital transportation hub during this period. The image showcases a collection of traditional canoes and boats, known as water taxis, moored at the quay, their sunshades providing respite from the intense Middle Eastern sun. The buildings along the quayside, with their intricate architectural details, reflect the rich cultural heritage of Basra, a city located in the eastern part of Iraq. The lush trees lining the banks of the creek add a touch of greenery, contrasting the sandy terrain that surrounds the area. The landing stage was a hive of activity, with people and goods constantly coming and going. The water taxis played a crucial role in transporting people and merchandise across the creek, connecting various parts of the city. The scene is a testament to the resilience and resourcefulness of the people of Basra, who relied on the waterways for their daily needs and livelihoods. The photograph, taken in the 1910s, offers a glimpse into the past, providing us with a window into the history and culture of Basra during a time when the city was a thriving commercial center in the Middle East. The image is a reminder of the significance of water transportation in Iraq's history and the role it played in shaping the city's identity.
