23"x19" (58x48cm) Premium Frame

FSC real wood frame with double mounted 16x12 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 23x19 inches (584x482mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
In this evocative photograph, a knife grinder diligently plys his trade at the bustling Tournai market in Belgium, circa 1950. The scene unfolds under the protective canopy of a large umbrella, shielding both the grinder and his customers from the intermittent sun and the occasional rain shower. The air is filled with the distinct scent of metal being sharpened and honed, a testament to the time-honored craftsmanship of this humble artisan. The grinder's weathered workbench is cluttered with an assortment of knives, each awaiting their turn to be restored to their former glory. A worn-out wooden stool, a worn-out leather apron, and a well-used grinding wheel complete the picture of a bygone era. The grinder's expression is focused and determined, as he meticulously hones each blade, ensuring that it is razor-sharp and ready for use. In the background, the hustle and bustle of the market can be heard, with the cacophony of voices, the clanging of pots and pans, and the lively banter of the traders adding to the vibrant atmosphere. The sun casts dappled shadows on the cobblestone street, creating a sense of warmth and nostalgia. This photograph is a poignant reminder of the importance of traditional trades and the artisans who keep them alive, even in the face of modern conveniences. The knife grinder's presence at the Tournai market is a testament to the enduring appeal of the local marketplace, where people come together to buy and sell, and where the simple pleasures of life are celebrated. This photograph is a treasure trove of history, capturing a moment in time that is both timeless and irreplaceable.
