FSC real wood frame with double mounted 10x8 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 17x15 inches (431x381mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

This striking portrait captures the young and ambitious John Russell, 1st Earl Russell, in the 1810s as he embarked on a distinguished political career. Born into the aristocratic Russell family on November 16, 1792, Russell's upbringing and connections provided him with the opportunities and resources to pursue a life in politics. Russell's political journey began in earnest when he was elected as the Member of Parliament for Tavistock in 1813, representing the Whig Party. He quickly rose through the ranks, becoming a leading figure in the party and a trusted advisor to successive Whig leaders. Russell's political beliefs were rooted in liberal values, and he advocated for reforms that would expand individual freedoms and improve the lives of the working class. His commitment to these principles earned him the nickname "Lord John Russell, the People's Friend." Despite facing numerous challenges and setbacks, Russell remained dedicated to his cause. He served twice as Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, first from 1846 to 1852 and again from 1865 to 1866. During his tenure, he implemented significant reforms, including the Repeal of the Corn Laws, which helped to modernize the British economy, and the Reform Act of 1867, which expanded the franchise and gave more people the right to vote. This portrait, taken in the 1810s, captures Russell in his youthful prime, full of ambition and determination.
