17"x15" (43x38cm) Premium Frame
FSC real wood frame with double mounted 10x8 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 17x15 inches (431x381mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
John Randolph of Roanoke: A Distinguished American Statesman and Harmless Duelist This portrait depicts John Randolph of Roanoke (1773-1833), an influential American statesman and diplomat of the early 19th century. Born in Virginia, Randolph was a passionate advocate for states' rights and a vocal critic of the federal government. His political career began in the Virginia House of Delegates, where he served for over 30 years. Randolph is best known for his duel with Henry Clay, which took place on January 20, 1804, in Washington, D.C. The cause of the duel remains unclear, but it is believed to have stemmed from political disagreements. Despite the potential danger, the duel between these two prominent figures was considered 'harmless' because both men fired into the air rather than at each other. This portrait, taken from the National Portrait Gallery, Vol. II, offers a glimpse into the life of this intriguing historical figure. Randolph's stern expression and piercing gaze convey a sense of determination and intensity, reflecting his strong convictions and unwavering commitment to his beliefs. The ornate chair in which he sits adds an air of grandeur and importance to the image. John Randolph's legacy extends beyond his duel with Henry Clay. He served as a U.S. Congressman, a U.S. Senator, and as Minister to Russia under President James Monroe. His political acumen and eloquence earned him the nickname 'Old Man Eloquent.' This portrait serves as a reminder of the rich history and complex characters that shaped America's early political landscape.
