17"x15" (43x38cm) Premium Frame

FSC real wood frame with double mounted 10x8 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 17x15 inches (431x381mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
This striking portrait captures the distinguished visage of John Jefferies Pratt, 1st Marquess Camden (1759-1840), an esteemed statesman and Lord-Lieutenant of Ireland during the early 19th century. Born into the noble Pratt family, John Jefferies Pratt rose to prominence in British politics, serving as a Member of Parliament for several constituencies throughout his career. In 1802, Pratt was appointed as Lord-Lieutenant of Ireland, a position that placed him at the helm of Irish affairs during a time of significant political and social change. He worked diligently to maintain order and stability in the country, navigating the complex web of Irish politics and addressing the needs of its diverse population. Pratt's tenure as Lord-Lieutenant was marked by his commitment to improving the lives of the Irish people. He oversaw the implementation of various reforms aimed at addressing poverty, education, and infrastructure, earning him the respect and admiration of many. Despite his successes in Ireland, Pratt's political career was not without controversy. He was a vocal critic of the Corn Laws, which protected British agricultural interests at the expense of Irish farmers. This stance earned him the enmity of some of his fellow politicians, but it also solidified his reputation as a champion of the underdog. This portrait, taken in the late 18th or early 19th century, offers a glimpse into the life of a man who dedicated himself to serving his country and improving the lives of its people, both in Ireland and in the British Parliament. With his stern yet thoughtful expression, Pratt's gaze seems to invite us to consider the challenges and opportunities of his time, and to reflect on the enduring importance of compassionate and effective leadership.
