FSC real wood frame with double mounted 16x12 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 23x19 inches (584x482mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
This evocative marble statue commemorates Johann Matthias von der Schulenburg (1661-1747), the illustrious Marshal defender of the city of Corfu during the Turkish invasion of 1716. The statue, situated in Corfu, Ionian Islands, Greece, stands as a testament to the bravery and resilience of this 17th-century aristocrat. During the siege of 1716, the Ottoman Empire, under the command of Turkish admiral Oruç Reis, laid siege to the fortified city of Corfu. The city, a vital outpost of the Venetian Republic, was under constant threat from the Ottoman forces. In response, the Venetian authorities called upon the services of Johann Matthias von der Schulenburg, a seasoned military commander, to lead the defense of Corfu. Von der Schulenburg, a count in the Holy Roman Empire, rose to the challenge and led the city's defenders with great distinction. He devised ingenious defensive strategies, repelling numerous Ottoman assaults. The siege lasted for over three months, and when the Ottoman forces finally retreated, Corfu had been successfully defended. In recognition of his heroic actions, the people of Corfu erected this marble statue in his honor. The inscription on the base of the statue reads, "To the memory of the illustrious Count Johann Matthias von der Schulenburg, Marshal of Corfu, who defended the city during the Turkish invasion in the year 1716." The statue, a modern addition to the city's rich historical landscape, stands as a reminder of the past and the indomitable spirit of those who defended it. Von der Schulenburg's legacy lives on, immortalized in this commemorative sculpture, as a symbol of courage, resilience, and the enduring spirit of the people of Corfu.
