Carpenter Carpentry Carries Christ Jesus Nazareth Plank Skills Symbolic Testament Timber Youth Prefiguring

23"x19" (58x48cm) Premium Frame

FSC real wood frame with double mounted 16x12 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 23x19 inches (584x482mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
In this evocative image from the annals of Christian history, a young Jesus is depicted carrying a heavy plank of wood through the bustling streets of Nazareth. Dressed in the traditional garb of an Eastern boy of the time, Jesus walks with a determined expression on his face, his shoulders bearing the weight of the timber he carries. The sun casts a warm glow over the scene, illuminating the dusty streets and the worn steps leading up to the houses lining the way. Jesus, who would later become known as the carpenter of Nazareth, is shown here prefiguring his future vocation. According to the New Testament of the Bible, Jesus learned the carpentry trade from his father, Joseph, and honed his skills in the workshop of their home. This image captures a moment in Jesus' childhood, as he helps his family or perhaps even earns his own livelihood by selling the wood he has cut and shaped. The wooden plank, a symbol of Jesus' future trade and the physical labor that would shape his life, is a poignant reminder of the humble beginnings of the man who would go on to change the course of human history. The image invites us to reflect on the importance of hard work, dedication, and the value of learning a trade, even as we contemplate the deeper spiritual significance of Jesus' life and teachings. This photograph, taken from the extensive collection of Mary Evans Picture Library, offers a glimpse into the rich history of Christianity and the everyday life of a young Jesus in Nazareth. The image is a testament to the enduring power of religious symbols and the way they continue to inspire and inform our understanding of the world and our place in it.
