31"x27" (79x69cm) Premium Frame

FSC real wood frame with double mounted 24x20 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 31x27 inches (787x685mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
This print showcases the renowned French sculptor, Jean-Antoine Houdon (1741-1828), in the prime of his artistic career. Born in Paris on March 25, 1741, Houdon was a leading figure in the Neoclassical movement and is best known for his lifelike and highly detailed portraits in marble and bronze. The image captures Houdon in a thoughtful and introspective pose, with a quill pen in hand and a sheet of paper before him, suggesting the creative process that would lead to his masterpieces. The artist's expressive eyes convey a deep concentration and passion for his craft. Houdon's talent was recognized early in his career, and he quickly gained the patronage of influential figures such as King Louis XV and Marie Antoinette. His most famous works include portraits of Voltaire, Benjamin Franklin, and Louis XV himself. Houdon's innovative techniques, such as using a wax model to create a bronze casting, revolutionized the art of sculpture and set a standard for future generations. Despite his success, Houdon's life was not without challenges. He faced financial difficulties and even spent some time in debtors' prison. However, his dedication to his art never wavered, and he continued to produce groundbreaking works throughout his long and productive career. This print is a testament to the enduring legacy of Jean-Antoine Houdon, a true master of the sculptural arts. His influence can still be seen in the works of contemporary sculptors, and his contributions to the world of art continue to inspire and captivate audiences today.
