17"x15" (43x38cm) Premium Frame
FSC real wood frame with double mounted 10x8 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 17x15 inches (431x381mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
This evocative photograph captures the moment of Italian victory in the Battle of Adwa, a pivotal event in the Italian invasion of Ethiopia in 1935. The image shows a triumphant Italian soldier standing atop a tank, surveying the battlefield as smoke rises from the destruction below. The Italian army, well-equipped with modern weaponry and tactical advantages, had successfully overwhelmed the poorly prepared and ill-equipped Ethiopian forces. The Battle of Adwa, named after the town in Ethiopia where the conflict took place, marked the end of Ethiopian sovereignty and the beginning of a 5-year Italian occupation. The Ethiopian army, led by Emperor Haile Selassie, had initially put up a valiant resistance, but was ultimately no match for the Italian military's superior firepower and tactics. The Italian invasion of Ethiopia, also known as the Second Italo-Ethiopian War, was a dark chapter in African history. The Italian fascist regime, led by Benito Mussolini, sought to expand its colonial empire and assert its dominance on the African continent. The invasion was met with international condemnation, and the League of Nations, the precursor to the United Nations, imposed economic sanctions on Italy in response. Despite the eventual Italian defeat and the restoration of Ethiopian sovereignty, the scars of the invasion lingered for decades. Ethiopia remained a impoverished and politically unstable country for many years, and it was not until the 1990s that the country began to experience significant economic growth and political stability. This photograph is a poignant reminder of the complex and often tumultuous history of Ethiopia and its interactions with the wider world. It serves as a reminder of the importance of peaceful diplomacy and the dangers of military aggression, and the enduring impact that historical events can have on the present day.
