Daniel Gooch Loco Locomotive Locomotives
17"x15" (43x38cm) Premium Frame
FSC real wood frame with double mounted 10x8 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 17x15 inches (431x381mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
This photograph showcases Daniel Gooch's North Star locomotive, a legendary steam engine that graced the rails of the Great Western Railway (GWR) in the late 19th century. Gooch, an accomplished engineer and locomotive designer, created this engine in 1897 with the intention of setting a new standard for speed and efficiency on the GWR. The North Star, named for its distinctive headlight, was an impressive sight on the railway, with its powerful and sleek design. Its boiler was larger than those of previous locomotives, allowing for increased steam pressure and greater power output. The engine's cylinders were also larger, enabling it to cover more distance with each stroke. This photograph captures the North Star in its prime, exuding an air of power and determination as it chugs along the tracks. The steam billowing from its stack and the sparks flying from its wheels add to the sense of motion and energy. The engine's intricate details, from the ornate decorations on its sides to the delicate piping and valves, are on full display. The North Star was a game-changer for the GWR, setting new records for speed and efficiency and inspiring a new generation of locomotive designers. Its influence can still be seen in the steam engines of today, making it an important piece of railway history. This photograph is a testament to the engineering marvels of the past and the enduring allure of the steam train.
