17"x15" (43x38cm) Premium Frame

FSC real wood frame with double mounted 10x8 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 17x15 inches (431x381mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
This photograph, taken in the heart of Central London's Trafalgar Square during the 1860s, showcases a horse-drawn fire engine in a rush to respond to an emergency. The fire engine, adorned with intricate Victorian-era details, is in full speed as its powerful horses pull the heavy vehicle through the bustling square. The historical significance of this image lies in the fact that firefighting technology had not yet advanced to include motorized engines, making horse-drawn fire engines the primary means of extinguishing fires in the city. The column of Nelson's Statue in Trafalgar Square stands proudly in the background, a symbol of British naval power and victory. The firemen, dressed in their distinctive uniforms, are focused on their task at hand, their determined expressions evident as they race towards the unknown danger. The horses, too, display a sense of urgency, their muscles taut and eyes wide with exertion. This photograph offers a glimpse into the past, transporting us back to a time when horse-drawn fire engines were the epitome of modern technology and the firefighters' heroic efforts were a testament to their courage and strength. The image also serves as a reminder of the importance of fire safety and the vital role that firefighters play in protecting communities from the destructive power of fires. The horse-drawn fire engine in this photograph is a fascinating historical artifact, offering a unique perspective on the past and the evolution of firefighting technology. The image's timeless quality and the sense of urgency it conveys make it a captivating addition to any collection of historical photographs.
