17"x15" (43x38cm) Premium Frame

FSC real wood frame with double mounted 10x8 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 17x15 inches (431x381mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
In this evocative black-and-white photograph, the HMS Worcester, a Merchant Navy training vessel, is moored at Greenhithe, Kent, in England, circa 1946. The HMS Worcester, a proud and imposing ship, stands tall against the backdrop of a grey, overcast sky, with the tranquil waters of the Thames reflecting the scene. A group of sailors, dressed in their navy uniforms, are seen gathered on the deck, engaged in various training activities. Some are seen practicing drills with ropes, while others are clustered around maps and charts, studying intently. The ship's crew is put through their paces in preparation for their future roles on merchant vessels, which were essential to the British economy during the post-war recovery. The HMS Worcester, with its distinctive red ensign and white ensign flying proudly at the masthead, is a symbol of the Royal Navy's commitment to training the next generation of seafarers. A crowd of spectators, including families and local residents, gather on the shoreline, watching the training exercises with great interest. The scene is a testament to the community spirit that existed during this period, as people came together to support the efforts of the Merchant Navy and the Royal Navy in rebuilding a nation. The photograph captures the essence of a bygone era, a time when the sea was a vital lifeline for the British people, and the Merchant Navy played a crucial role in ensuring the country's economic prosperity. The HMS Worcester, with its proud crew and determined trainees, stands as a reminder of the resilience and determination of the British people during the 1940s.
