23"x19" (58x48cm) Premium Frame

FSC real wood frame with double mounted 16x12 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 23x19 inches (584x482mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
Plate 36 of John Gould's A Monograph of the Trogonid, or Family of Trogons, features a stunning hand-coloured lithograph of the Diard's Trogon, Harpactes diardii. This beautiful illustration, created by the collaborative efforts of John Gould and his wife Elizabeth, showcases the intricate details of this unique bird species. The Diard's Trogon is depicted perched on a branch, displaying its distinctive plumage. The bird's belly is a rich brown colour, contrasting with the darker brown of its collar and the lighter brown fan-like markings on its chest. Its collar is adorned with a white bib, adding a striking contrast to the rest of its body. The trogon's belly is adorned with intricate patterns, adding to its visual appeal. The illustration captures the bird in its natural habitat, with the artist's skilled hand adding the vibrant colours to bring the image to life. The lithograph was created in the nineteenth century, during a time when natural history illustrations were at the height of their popularity. John and Elizabeth Gould were renowned for their meticulous attention to detail and their ability to bring the natural world to life through their illustrations. This particular plate is a testament to their artistic prowess and their dedication to documenting the natural world. The Diard's Trogon is a daytime bird, found in the forests of Southeast Asia.
