17"x15" (43x38cm) Premium Frame
FSC real wood frame with double mounted 10x8 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 17x15 inches (431x381mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

In this black-and-white photograph, Hans-Joachim Barschel (1912-1988) is seen in thoughtful contemplation, his intense gaze fixed on an unseen horizon. Born in Berlin, Germany, Barschel's early years were marked by a deep immersion in the world of art and design. He studied under the tutelage of esteemed artists and designers Ernst Bohm and Oskar Hadank at the Berlin Hochschule. Barschel's career took a significant turn in 1936 when he was tasked with designing exhibits for the Olympic Games held in his native city. The opportunity to showcase his talents on such a grand stage marked the beginning of a promising career in graphic design. However, the political climate in Germany was rapidly changing, and in 1937, Barschel made the courageous decision to emigrate to the United States. Settling in New York, Barschel continued to hone his craft and soon gained a reputation as a leading graphic designer. His innovative designs were sought after by numerous clients, and he became a respected figure in the artistic community. In 1964, Barschel accepted a position as Professor of Graphic Communications at the Rochester Institute of Technology in New York. Here, he passed on his knowledge and expertise to a new generation of designers, inspiring them with his passion for art and design. Despite the many accolades and accomplishments that marked his career, Barschel remained humble and dedicated to his craft.
