Fire Arms Firing Guns Winchester Weapons

17"x15" (43x38cm) Premium Frame

FSC real wood frame with double mounted 10x8 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 17x15 inches (431x381mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
This evocative photograph captures a group of American boys intently focusing on their Winchester rifles during a military training session in 1917. The image transports us back in time to an era when gun ownership and marksmanship were considered essential skills for young boys on the cusp of adulthood. The boys, dressed in their military uniforms and wearing serious expressions, are positioned in a semi-circle around a makeshift target range. Each boy holds his Winchester rifle firmly, ready to fire. The rifles, with their distinctive long barrels and intricate designs, stand out against the stark, rustic backdrop of the outdoors. The historical significance of this photograph lies in its portrayal of the role of guns and military training in American culture during the early 20th century. At the time, the United States was undergoing a period of rapid industrialization and expansion, and the military was seen as a vital institution for preparing young men to defend their country and uphold American values. Moreover, the Winchester rifle was a symbol of American ingenuity and innovation. Developed in the late 19th century, it quickly became the preferred firearm of the American military and civilian population alike. Its reputation for accuracy and reliability made it a trusted tool for hunting, self-defense, and military service. This photograph offers a glimpse into a bygone era, when guns were a common part of everyday life for many Americans, particularly boys. It serves as a reminder of the historical and cultural significance of firearms in American history and the role they played in shaping the lives of generations of young people.
