23"x19" (58x48cm) Premium Frame

FSC real wood frame with double mounted 16x12 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 23x19 inches (584x482mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
1. Title: Three Species of Bindweed: A Botanical Exploration of Great Bindweed, Sea Bindweed, and Lesser Bindweed This handcolored botanical copperplate engraving, taken from Joshua Hamilton's Culpeper's English Family Physician; or Medical Herbal, published in London in 1792 by W. Locke, showcases three distinct species of bindweed: Great Bindweed (Convolvulus majalis), Sea Bindweed (Calystegia soldanella), and Lesser Bindweed (Calystegia sepium). Great Bindweed, depicted in the center, is a notorious invasive weed that can grow up to 15 feet long, with large, heart-shaped leaves and beautiful, white, funnel-shaped flowers. Its tendrils can coil around other plants, providing support and hindering their growth. Sea Bindweed, on the left, is a trailing herb with heart-shaped leaves and pink or purple, star-shaped flowers. It is native to the Mediterranean region and is often found growing near the sea. Lesser Bindweed, on the right, is a smaller, more delicate species with heart-shaped leaves and white or pink, trumpet-shaped flowers. It is commonly found in Europe and Asia. These engravings, produced during the height of the botanical illustration era, offer a glimpse into the natural world as it was understood during the late 18th century. The intricate detail and vibrant colors reveal the meticulous work of skilled botanical artists and engravers. Culpeper's English Family Physician was a popular herbal medicine guide, providing information on the medicinal uses and properties of various plants. This engraving is a testament to the fascination with the natural world and the role of botanical knowledge in medical practices of the time. This beautiful and historically significant artwork offers a unique perspective on the botany, history, and art of the past, inviting us to appreciate the beauty and complexity of nature.
