23"x19" (58x48cm) Premium Frame
FSC real wood frame with double mounted 16x12 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 23x19 inches (584x482mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
Gold Dredging at Kyebi (Kibi), Ghana, West Africa (circa 1912) This evocative photograph captures the scene of gold dredging at Kyebi, now known as Kibi, in Ghana, West Africa. The image transports us back in time to the early 20th century, when the allure of gold brought prospectors from around the world to this part of the African coast. In the foreground, a dredger, a large machine used for mining gold from riverbeds, is in operation. The dredger's long, curved arm extends into the river, churning up sediment and water as it searches for precious gold deposits. A conveyor belt, visible at the base of the dredger, transports the extracted material to the surface, where it is then processed for gold. The photograph also reveals the industrious nature of the gold prospecting industry at Kyebi during this period. Men, likely of German descent, are seen working alongside the dredger, shoveling and sifting through the sediment for any potential gold finds. The scene is bustling with activity, with other prospectors and laborers in the background, adding to the sense of excitement and anticipation. Despite the industrious nature of the gold dredging operations at Kyebi, it is important to note that this photograph does not depict commercial use. Instead, it offers a glimpse into the prospecting efforts of individuals seeking their fortune in the rich gold deposits of Ghana. The image serves as a reminder of the enduring allure of gold and the human desire to seek it out, no matter the time or place.
