Bars Captivity Giraffe Giraffes
17"x15" (43x38cm) Premium Frame
FSC real wood frame with double mounted 10x8 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 17x15 inches (431x381mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
Step back in time with this image of a giraffe family in a zoo from 1912. The photograph, taken over a century ago, showcases the wonder and curiosity that these gentle giants have always evoked in us. Two adult giraffes, their long necks reaching towards the sky, stand protectively over their young offspring. The baby giraffe, still with its spotted coat, looks up at its parents with a sense of trust and dependence. The scene is set in a zoo enclosure, where the giraffes are kept in captivity. The bars of their enclosure are visible in the background, a reminder of the human fascination that has kept these animals in confinement for centuries. Despite the bars, the giraffes appear content, their serene expressions betraying no signs of distress. This photograph is a poignant reminder of the long history of human-animal interaction and the role that zoos have played in preserving and showcasing the natural world. It also offers a glimpse into the past, allowing us to connect with a time when the world was just beginning to be explored and understood. The family of giraffes in this image is a testament to the enduring bond between parents and their young, a bond that transcends time and place. Their peaceful coexistence in the enclosure serves as a reminder of the delicate balance that exists between humans and animals, and the responsibility we have to ensure their well-being and survival. This historical photograph, with its timeless beauty and intriguing story, invites us to reflect on the past and consider the future of animal conservation. It is a reminder that the natural world is a precious gift, one that we must cherish and protect for generations to come.
