17"x15" (43x38cm) Premium Frame

FSC real wood frame with double mounted 10x8 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 17x15 inches (431x381mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
This evocative photograph captures the powerful presence of a German 3.7cm flag gun during the turbulent years of the Western Front in World War I. Dating back to 1916, this historical image transports us back in time to the heart of the conflict, as the Great War raged on across Europe. The German flag gun, an essential component of the German artillery arsenal during this period, is shown here in all its glory. The imposing weapon, with its intricate design and meticulously crafted details, stands as a testament to the advanced engineering capabilities of the German military at the time. The gun's large caliber and impressive range made it a formidable weapon against both ground and air targets, making it a crucial asset in the defense of the German lines. The photograph also provides a glimpse into the harsh realities of life on the Western Front. The muddy terrain and desolate landscape surrounding the gun are a stark reminder of the challenging conditions faced by soldiers on both sides. The image further underscores the importance of artillery in the war, as the gun crew diligently prepares for the next engagement, their faces etched with determination and focus. As we reflect on this powerful image, we are reminded of the immense sacrifices made by soldiers and civilians during the First World War. The photograph serves as a poignant reminder of the historical significance of this period, and the enduring impact it has had on the course of human history.
