17"x15" (43x38cm) Premium Frame

FSC real wood frame with double mounted 10x8 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 17x15 inches (431x381mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
This evocative photograph captures the remnants of a once formidable weapon of war: a wrecked German 88-mm anti-aircraft/anti-tank gun, abandoned in the snowy landscape of Belgium in January 1945. The image, taken after the intense Battle of the Bulge, provides a poignant reminder of the devastating impact of the Second World War. The 88-mm gun, a versatile and effective piece of military technology, was used extensively by the German army on both the Eastern and Western Fronts. Capable of firing both armor-piercing and high-explosive shells, it was a feared weapon among Allied forces. Its long range and high accuracy made it a formidable anti-aircraft gun as well. In this photograph, the gun lies abandoned, its once gleaming metal surface now marred by the harsh winter elements and the ravages of battle. The scene is silent and still, save for the occasional crunch of snow underfoot. The only sounds are the distant drone of Allied aircraft and the soft sigh of the wind. The Battle of the Bulge, which took place from December 16, 1944, to January 25, 1945, was the last major German offensive campaign on the Western Front. The battle resulted in a major defeat for the Germans, who were forced to retreat in the face of the Allied counterattack. This photograph, taken in the aftermath of the battle, serves as a stark reminder of the human cost and destruction wrought by the conflict. As we gaze upon this image, we are reminded of the importance of preserving history and honoring the sacrifices made by those who lived through it. This photograph is not just a record of a moment in time, but a testament to the resilience of the human spirit and the enduring power of hope in the face of adversity.
