23"x19" (58x48cm) Premium Frame
FSC real wood frame with double mounted 16x12 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 23x19 inches (584x482mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
This photograph, taken in the outskirts of Morogoro, East Africa (now in Tanzania) during the 1910s, showcases the enchanting beauty of the Euphorbia Candelabra. The Euphorbia Candelabra, also known as the Tree Aloe or Umbrella Tree, is a unique and striking succulent plant native to the arid regions of Eastern and Southern Africa. The image captures the plant in its natural habitat, standing tall and proud against the backdrop of the African savannah. Its distinctive candelabra-like branches, adorned with small, waxy, green leaves, create a mesmerizing contrast against the golden hues of the dry grasslands. The plant's vibrant red and orange bracts, which appear at the base of the branches, add an extra burst of color to the otherwise monochromatic landscape. The Euphorbia Candelabra was a popular subject among early 20th-century explorers and naturalists, who were drawn to its unusual appearance and intriguing adaptations. The plant's succulent leaves help it to store water, making it well-suited to survive in the harsh, dry conditions of the African savannah. This photograph, part of The On Call in Africa Collection at Mary Evans Picture Library, offers a glimpse into the rich natural history of East Africa during a time when European explorers were first documenting the unique flora and fauna of the region. Today, the Euphorbia Candelabra remains an iconic symbol of the African savannah, inspiring awe and wonder in all who encounter it.
