23"x19" (58x48cm) Premium Frame

FSC real wood frame with double mounted 16x12 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 23x19 inches (584x482mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
This exquisite portrait captures the elegance and grace of Elizabeth, Duchess of Devonshire (nee Hervey), born in 1759, who became the second wife of William Cavendish, the 5th Duke of Devonshire, in 1774. Elizabeth, the daughter of the Earl of Bristol, was known for her beauty, intelligence, and sharp wit. Her marriage to the Duke was a love match, and they had a happy and productive union, producing ten children. Elizabeth's early years were marked by tragedy, as she lost both her mother and her elder sister at a young age. However, she was well-educated and cultivated, and her intelligence and charm made her a popular figure in high society. Her marriage to the Duke brought her into the inner circle of the aristocracy, and she became a patron of the arts and a prominent figure in the political and social scene of the time. The Duke and Duchess of Devonshire were known for their lavish entertainments and their generous hospitality. They hosted numerous balls, dinners, and other social events at their estates, including Chatsworth House, which remains one of the most famous and beautiful country houses in England. Elizabeth was also a prolific letter writer, and her correspondence provides valuable insights into the social and political life of the time. Despite her many duties as a wife and mother, Elizabeth continued to pursue her own interests and passions. She was an accomplished musician and a talented artist, and she was known for her love of gardening. Her gardens at Chatsworth House, which included a famous sunken garden, were renowned for their beauty and innovation. Elizabeth, Duchess of Devonshire, died in 1824, leaving behind a legacy of beauty, intelligence, and grace that continues to inspire and captivate people to this day. This portrait, taken in the late 18th century, provides a glimpse into the life of a remarkable woman who lived during a fascinating period in English history.
