23"x19" (58x48cm) Premium Frame

FSC real wood frame with double mounted 16x12 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 23x19 inches (584x482mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
This evocative Edwardian photograph, taken in Blisworth, Northamptonshire in 1905, captures a moment of quiet intimacy in the daily life of the past. Identified by the photographer, Ernest Battersby, as Perkins yard, the scene unfolds before us with a sense of timeless charm. Battersby, dressed in a smart frock coat and bowler hat, stands at the right-hand side of the image, making eye contact with one of the dogs, while a man, presumably Perkins, holds a second dog on a lead. The dogs, with their alert expressions and wagging tails, seem to be the focus of the interaction, their bond with their human companions palpable. The scene is filled with intriguing details that transport us back in time. The cobblestone yard, lined with carts and wagons, suggests the bustling activity of a rural community. The horses, tethered nearby, add to the sense of industry and productivity. The simple, rustic buildings in the background, with their thatched roofs and whitewashed walls, speak of a simpler way of life. Despite the passage of over a century, this photograph retains a powerful ability to captivate and engage us. It offers a glimpse into the past, inviting us to imagine the stories and memories that lie behind the image. The connection between the humans and their animals, the sense of community and the beauty of the rural landscape all combine to make this a truly enchanting and evocative snapshot of Edwardian life.
