23"x19" (58x48cm) Premium Frame
FSC real wood frame with double mounted 16x12 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 23x19 inches (584x482mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

This evocative photograph captures the enigmatic and brilliant mind of Edward Matthew Ward (1816-1879), a renowned English painter of the Victorian era. Ward is best known for his historical and biblical paintings, which were highly regarded for their meticulous attention to detail and emotional depth. Born on March 16, 1816, in London, Ward showed an early aptitude for art. He studied under the tutelage of Thomas Creswick and later at the Royal Academy Schools. Ward's artistic talent was soon recognized, and he began to exhibit his works at the Royal Academy and the British Institution. One of Ward's most famous works is "The Last Moments of the Virgin," a painting that depicts the Virgin Mary in her final moments before her Assumption into heaven. The painting is a masterpiece of emotional intensity and religious devotion, and it is still admired for its beauty and spiritual depth today. Ward's other notable works include "The Prodigal Son," "The Good Samaritan," and "The Agony in the Garden." His paintings were popular among the Victorian elite, and he received numerous commissions from wealthy patrons and the Church. Despite his success, Ward's personal life was marked by tragedy. He suffered from ill health throughout his life, and his wife and daughter both died young. Ward passed away on March 2, 1879, leaving behind a legacy of beautiful and moving works of art that continue to inspire and captivate audiences.
