23"x19" (58x48cm) Premium Frame
FSC real wood frame with double mounted 16x12 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 23x19 inches (584x482mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

1. Title: A Colonial Glimpse of Dondo, Angola: A General View of a Portuguese West African Town in the Early 1900s This evocative image captures the essence of Dondo, a historic Portuguese colonial town nestled along the banks of the Pango River in Angola, during the early 1900s. The photograph offers a glimpse into the past, showcasing the unique blend of African and European influences that characterized the colonial era in this part of West Africa. The scene is dominated by the tranquil waters of the Pango River, which winds its way through the town, providing a vital lifeline for the local community. The river is dotted with traditional African canoes, while a small European-style steamship anchors in the distance, symbolizing the interconnectedness of the global trade networks that shaped the region during this period. The town itself is a vibrant mix of African and European architectural styles, with red-tiled roofs and whitewashed walls contrasting against the lush greenery of the surrounding trees and grasslands. The streets are bustling with activity, as people go about their daily lives, while the marketplace comes to life with the sounds, colors, and smells of a diverse array of goods being bought and sold. Despite the signs of European influence, the African people remain at the heart of this community, their rich cultural heritage evident in the traditional clothing, music, and customs that continue to thrive amidst the changing landscape of the colonial world. This image offers a poignant reminder of the complex and intriguing history of Dondo and the broader story of Portuguese West Africa during the colonial era.
