23"x19" (58x48cm) Premium Frame

FSC real wood frame with double mounted 16x12 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 23x19 inches (584x482mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

Through The Divorce Court

EDITORS COMMENTS
by Max Goldberg: A Glimpse into the Dramatic World of Edwardian Divorce Proceedings Step back in time with this promotional postcard for Max Goldberg's play, "Through The Divorce Court," first produced at the Lyric Theatre in Hammersmith on May 5, 1902. This theatrical masterpiece, presented by Henry Chattell & Jack Denton's Company, offers a fascinating glimpse into the world of Edwardian divorce proceedings. The image on this postcard showcases the intensity and drama of a divorce court scene. A stern judge presides over the proceedings, his gaze fixed on the couple before him. The father, dressed in formal attire, clutches his son tightly, protecting him from the prying eyes of the court. The mother, distraught and heartbroken, weeps in the arms of a sympathetic friend. The children, confused and scared, look on from the sidelines. Divorce was a popular form of entertainment in the early 1900s, often presented as pantomimes or plays. These productions provided an escape for audiences, allowing them to witness the drama and intrigue of real-life divorce cases from the comfort of their seats. "Through The Divorce Court" was no exception, and its theatrical portrayal of the emotional turmoil and legal complexities of divorce captured the imagination of the public. Max Goldberg's play was a significant part of the theatrical landscape of the time, and this postcard serves as a reminder of the powerful impact it had on audiences over a century ago. Whether you're a history buff, a theatre enthusiast, or simply fascinated by the human condition, this postcard offers a unique and intriguing glimpse into the world of Edwardian divorce proceedings.
