17"x15" (43x38cm) Premium Frame

FSC real wood frame with double mounted 10x8 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 17x15 inches (431x381mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
This chromolithograph illustration, titled "Dinotherium" by the renowned German artist and illustrator Heinrich Harder, showcases one of the most intriguing prehistoric relatives of the elephant. Dinotherium, also known as Deinotherium or Giganteum, is a extinct genus of large, elephant-like creatures that roamed the Earth during the Miocene epoch, around 15 to 11 million years ago. The most distinctive feature of Dinotherium is its downward curving tusks, which were significantly larger than those of modern elephants. These tusks were not only used for defense and digging, but also for stripping bark from trees to access the nutritious inner layers. Heinrich Harder's illustration masterfully captures the powerful and majestic presence of this prehistoric creature. The intricate details of the Dinotherium's wrinkled skin, textured ears, and expressive eyes bring the creature to life, transporting us back in time to the ancient world. Harder's "Animals of the Prehistoric World" series, published in 1916 in Hamburg, Germany, was a groundbreaking work that showcased the latest scientific knowledge of prehistoric animals. This illustration, in particular, is a testament to Harder's artistic skill and dedication to accurately depicting the natural world, both past and present. Today, Dinotherium remains an important part of the fossil record and a fascinating subject of study for paleontologists and historians alike. This illustration serves as a reminder of the rich history of life on Earth and the incredible creatures that once roamed the land.
