1747 1825 Archeologist Denon Dominique Vivant

17"x15" (43x38cm) Premium Frame

FSC real wood frame with double mounted 10x8 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 17x15 inches (431x381mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
This image portrays Dominique Vivant Denon (1747-1825), a renowned French archaeologist and artist, during his groundbreaking expedition to Egypt in the early 19th century. Denon, who was born on September 14, 1747, in Saint-Maur-des-Fossés, France, is best known for his significant contributions to the study of Egyptian antiquities and art. In this photograph, Denon is depicted in the midst of his archaeological pursuits, surrounded by the rich history and culture of ancient Egypt. With a determined expression and a quill pen in hand, he meticulously records his findings in a journal, a testament to his unwavering dedication to the preservation and documentation of Egypt's ancient past. The backdrop of the image reveals the grandeur and mystery of the Egyptian landscape, with its towering pyramids, intricate hieroglyphics, and ancient temples. Denon's journey to Egypt began in 1798 when he joined Napoleon Bonaparte's campaign as part of the Institut d'Égypte, an organization dedicated to the study of Egyptian antiquities. During his time in Egypt, Denon made numerous discoveries and documented countless artifacts, including the famous Rosetta Stone, which would later prove invaluable in deciphering the ancient Egyptian language. Denon's influence on the study of Egyptian history and art is immeasurable. He authored several influential works, including "Voyage en Égypte et en Nubie," which was published in 1802 and remains a seminal text in the field. Denon passed away on March 14, 1825, leaving behind a legacy that continues to inspire and inform our understanding of ancient Egypt.
