23"x19" (58x48cm) Premium Frame
FSC real wood frame with double mounted 16x12 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 23x19 inches (584x482mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
This haunting image captures the final moments of King William Rufus II of England, also known as William the Red, as he lies dying in the New Forest after being struck by a stray arrow during a hunting excursion in August 1100. The Norman king, who ruled from 1087 until his untimely death at the age of 41, was a passionate hunter and is said to have been wearing his favorite hunting attire when the tragic accident occurred. The arrow that ended the life of King William was reportedly fired by Walter Tirel, Lord of Poix, who was a trusted courtier and a skilled archer in the king's retinue. The circumstances surrounding the incident remain unclear, with some accounts suggesting that the arrow was an accidental discharge, while others claim that it was an intentional act of treason. Regardless of the cause, the death of King William Rufus marked the end of an era in English history. His reign was marked by military conquests, political intrigue, and religious tensions, and his passing paved the way for his younger brother, Henry I, to assume the throne. This poignant print, which depicts the dying king surrounded by his loyal subjects and attended by his physicians, offers a poignant reminder of the fragility of life and the uncertainties of power. The image, which is believed to have been created shortly after the event, is a testament to the enduring power of art to capture and preserve historical moments, even as the details of the past fade into legend and myth.
