23"x19" (58x48cm) Premium Frame
FSC real wood frame with double mounted 16x12 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 23x19 inches (584x482mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
This image, dated 1865, showcases the vibrant colors and intricate markings of the Mediterranean Rainbow Wrasse, also known as Coris julis. This small, patterned fish is a native of the Mediterranean and Black Seas, belonging to the Labridae family within the larger order of Perciformes. The Victorian-era photograph, sourced from Mary Evans Prints Online, offers a rare glimpse into the natural world of over a century ago. The Coris julis, with its striking yellow and green body, is a true testament to the rich biodiversity of the Mediterranean region. Its distinctive markings, which include horizontal stripes and a distinctive black spot near its tail, add to its allure. The Common Bleak, Alburnus alburnus, is another name for this species, but it is important to note that the fish depicted in this photograph is not the same as the Common Bleak, which is a freshwater fish belonging to the Cyprinidae family. The misnomer likely arose due to the similarity in name, but the two species are distinct and inhabit different aquatic environments. The Coris julis is a popular subject among marine enthusiasts and aquarists due to its eye-catching appearance and relatively easy care requirements. This photograph, with its historical significance and stunning visual appeal, serves as a reminder of the natural wonders that have long captivated our imaginations and fueled our fascination with the natural world.
