17"x15" (43x38cm) Premium Frame
FSC real wood frame with double mounted 10x8 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 17x15 inches (431x381mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
The Colossus of Rhodes: A Testament to Ancient Engineering and Perseverance This enchanting engraving by Philip Galle, created in the 16th century, depicts the legendary Colossus of Rhodes. This colossal statue, erected in the ancient Greek city of Rhodes around 280 BC, is considered one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. The statue represented the sun god Helios, with its colossal size reaching approximately 30 meters (100 feet) tall. Martin van Heemskerck, a Dutch painter and printmaker, is believed to be the original artist behind this image. His work was later reproduced by Philip Galle, a renowned Flemish engraver, who brought the image to life through intricate lines and meticulous detail. The Colossus of Rhodes was an engineering marvel of its time, symbolizing the power and wealth of the ancient city. However, its existence was short-lived. The statue was reportedly destroyed by an earthquake just 56 years after its completion. Despite its brief lifespan, the Colossus of Rhodes continued to inspire awe and wonder, becoming a symbol of resilience and human achievement. This engraving, now housed at The Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art in Kansas City, United States, offers a glimpse into the past, transporting us back to a time when human ingenuity knew no bounds. The Colossus of Rhodes stands as a testament to the enduring power of art and the indomitable human spirit.
