17"x15" (43x38cm) Premium Frame
FSC real wood frame with double mounted 10x8 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 17x15 inches (431x381mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
This evocative photograph captures a moment of historical significance during the industrial unrest of 1912 at Brynkinalt Colliery in Chirk, Wales. In the image, we see members of the 2nd Suffolk Regiment standing guard, their stern expressions conveying a sense of duty and resolve. The soldiers, along with contingents from the Shropshire Light Infantry and local police, were drafted in by the Home Secretary to maintain order and protect miners as they returned to work during a bitter strike. The coal mining industry was a major source of employment and economic power in the region, but working conditions were often harsh and dangerous. Tensions had been simmering for some time, with disputes over pay and working hours coming to a head in the summer of 1912. The situation quickly escalated into violent clashes between striking miners and strikebreakers, as well as with the military and police. The soldiers in this photograph are a reminder of the social and political upheaval that characterized this period in industrial history. Their presence at the colliery reflects the complex web of power dynamics at play, as well as the government's efforts to maintain order and protect property during times of unrest. The image also serves as a poignant reminder of the human cost of industrial strife, as families and communities were torn apart by the conflict. This photograph offers a unique glimpse into a pivotal moment in the history of labor relations and industrial unrest in Britain, and serves as a powerful reminder of the sacrifices made by soldiers and civilians alike during times of social and political upheaval.
